I have had the pleasure of serving at First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks since June of 2003. I began serving in ministry full-time in 1972. Trusting Christ, two months before my twentieth birthday, my life was wonderfully changed. A very short period of time later, hearing a sermon preached by Pastor Vernon Nelms from 2 Kings 2:8-10 on Elisha's request for a double portion of power, I surrendered my life to ministry. Ministry, through the Lord's enabling, has been my purpose for the majority of my life. A verse in the Bible that moved my heart when in college was Acts 20:24, at the moment of reading it became my life's verse.
"But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God".
I married the love of my life, Sandy, July 20, 1974. We have three children, Jodi, Jimmy and Jenny; and we are always happy to share pictures of our grandchildren!
"You instruct people by what you say, You inspire people by who you are"

Over the past 29 years, Jay has spoken in numerous churches, conferences, secular schools, Christian schools, universities and various other venues, with audiences ranging from 50 to over 5,000. Although his initial apologetics talks covered almost all aspects of the defense for the Christian faith, he is currently focusing on the authority and inspiration of Scripture. Since the Bible arguably gets attacked more for its creation account than any other area, he covers that extensively, but the overall picture is always the authority of God's Word. Jay has authored several books on the creation controversy and is currently serving as the Managing Director for the Creation Education Center. His full bio can be found at www.cecwisc.org.

I have been blessed to be married to my bride, Lynn LaRee for over 21 years. She is my best friend, companion, confidant and co-laborer in ministry. We like to say on good days we are 90% compatible. We met at a northern Wisconsin Christian camp, where Lynn was serving on staff and I came to retreat as a camper.
We have four children: Zack (16), Galeana (14), Jackson (13) and Johnny Mack (6) who are a delight to us. Lynn's mother is also a vital part of our family and has been living with us since 2008. My family is my greatest earthly delight.
I have had the privilege of being a pastor for over 17 years. Currently, I serve as Senior Pastor at New Hope Evangelical Free Church in Mount Horeb, WI.
I was raised in Platteville, WI and did not know Jesus at that time. I graduated from UW-Platteville with a degree in business in 1978, and came to know Jesus three years after college graduation on Sunday, February 8, 1981. That day my life did a 180% turn around.
I graduated from Mid-American Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, TN in 1989 with a Master Of Divinity degree in pastoral studies.

Imagine a camp that is fully climate-controlled, one that features an indoor archery range, an indoor climbing wall, an indoor environmental center and much more! Imagine being able to work with campers of all backgrounds, ages and abilities. Now you will have a small idea of what this project is and what it will mean to thousands of youth who - for one reason or another - were never able to go to camp. Now they can!
